Watersmeet Snowmobile Trail Report as of February 22, 2017

Hi Everyone ~

The Watersmeet snowmobile trails suffered a big hit since the end of last week with all the thawing.  Through Friday, trails offered some really good sledding with lots of happy snowmobilers.  Saturday and beyond brought weather that we are absolutely not used to here in the Upper Peninsula in February!  Our U. P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club are deeming all of our trails in poor condition right now, but the local weather prediction is for anywhere between 6″ and 12″ of snow between Thursday night and Saturday afternoon.  Time will tell if we can get the trails back in shape.  The Club reminds us that the trails are open until March 31.  A really good snowstorm or two should work wonders here, so don’t put those sleds away just yet.  We know that most of the Midwest is looking at grass right now, but we aren’t here.  Winter stays much, much longer here!  We’ll keep you posted as things change.  We have our fingers crossed!  Stay tuned….

The fishermen have been doing well and enjoying some nice weather for getting out there on the ice!  Come on up if you have the itch to doing a little winter fishing!

THINK SNOW!
